Being a highly sensitive person has it’s pros and cons. I know because I am one. I feel things deeply (my own emotions and those of others). While that is an amazing trait because it puts my intuition on high alert which is helpful in knowing how to protect my energy, it also makes it challenging sometimes in conversations with loved ones because it can make you defensive. No one talks about that as much and that’s a part of our shadow. Being accountable for how your sensitivity shows up in relationships is challenging because you can’t “stop being yourself” since everywhere you go, there you are. Working through how this beautiful character trait can also be debilitating is radical self-care and plays a part in your emotional healing.
