“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” ~ George Bernard Shaw
At some point along the way most of us stopped playing and lost touch with the unique brand of joy it brings. It’s time to reclaim our right to play and connect with that dormant part of ourselves. Come get back into the sandbox and awaken your playful spirit! In this class we will celebrate play as self-love and self-expression, explore any blocks we may have, and have fun as we get creative and open ourselves up to our playful spirits. Extra paper, markers (or colored pencils or crayons) are encouraged.
Class Guide: Bethe Almeras
Gifted with a playful spirit and a great capacity for joy, Bethe Almeras would like to help others tap into the same. A nonprofit leader, Bethe is an educator and advocate who specializes in early childhood education, disability studies and services, and working with marginalized populations. She has been fascinated by the field of play for over twenty years and has had the opportunity to work with and learn from experts and researchers from around the world. She lives in beautiful Washington, DC with the world’s greatest cats, Littles and Beans, who can often be seen in SCS classes. Bethe loves taking great walks, getting lost in a good book, time with friends, and laughing until she can’t catch her breath. If she could be anywhere today it would be in the Bahamas with her BFF, Heidi, with loads of sunscreen and a stack of books!
